This is looong overdue..

Dedicated to Gaza.

All photos used in this post are authentic and taken from Gaza.

Birth is a beautiful thing (and “fucking painful” as said by fellow female relatives).  When a child is born, it is the beginning of a fruitful life. Birth lies in the core of the life cycle and is one of the most miraculous things that we humans experience during our time at earth (birth even exceeds getting hold of last-minute awesome V.I.P seats at some big football rivalry match)

But birth is also used in other terms. When a person raises from depression, he is born again. A person, living life in drugs, booze and women/men, finds inner peace and is thus born again. Or someone joining a religion. All in all, birth signifies a new chapter, a clean chapter.

But even the most miraculous and beautiful things in life aren’t pure.

People are re-born under the most vicious and tragic moments. Gone is the former self, and born is the new, vengeful self. The soul has left, and the spirit to live is gone. The inhumanity that the eye records is branded in the memory, and one looks upon the sky, screaming and demanding answers.

You are reborn into something that you cannot recognize. Reborn to do things that you could not have imagined. Reborn to take what was taken from you.

People ask, “Why do people in Gaza hate Israel?”. People ask, “Why do people in Kashmir support radical groups?”. People ask “Why do people in the Middle East hate USA?”

Why?

This is why.

When a man in a suit steps on a platform and says clearly into a mike, “Either you are with us or the terrorists”, you wonder if the world in blind enough to let that pass.

When it does, you are outraged with the world.

When a man in a suit steps on a platform and declares a country to have weapons of mass destruction without any evidence, you wonder if the world is blind enough to let that pass.

When it does, you are not only enraged, but disappointed in the human race.

In Gaza, much of the shouts and the cries of the ordinary people have gone pretty much unheard. Labeled as terrorists, the Palestinian people have got all the odds against them. The Western media, when doing surveys, asks people “Do you support Israel, or the terrorist organization Hamas?” Already there, the Palestinian people have no voice as their own, as an image of a bearded terrorist takes over the mind.

We hear of bombs on the border of Israel. Unacceptable yes, but why doesn’t anyone bother looking behind the reason why so many Palestinians are so bitter over Israel? Why doesn’t anyone look, just for a minuet, at what the Palestinians are going through, and what the Israeli government is doing. We speak of human rights, we speak of freedom, yet we are so hypocritical that we rob others of the basic human rights that we have agreed upon and signed under the UN law. We simply look away when international laws and human right conventions are breached, and when someone finally notices he is either VETOed by the US or simply tagged as anti-semitic (which is totally out of place, and I’ll explain why)

(Just as a note, no recent resolutions have been added as I still need to find them) If you’re still alive, I’ll like to take you to the next level. The next list is the resolutions VETOed by the United States of America. Just scroll back up and read the list again. Because those are the  resolutions that were VETOed by the USA.

The bottom line is that whenever some action are been intended, Uncle Sam steps in and brings everything to a halt. This not only puts the US, the speaker for human rights and the land of the free,  in one ugly position but also the UN in being a failure and a joke.

I try not to laugh while writing this, but how on earth can you expect people to back the US government up in “The War Aginst Terror” when they themselves are the perpetuators? How can the US government  honestly and seriously demand other countries to support them in finding and killing terrorists, when they themselves both fund and nourish Zionist terrorism, that’s not only aimed at Gaza but other countries like Syria?

As for nuclear weapons, these weeks have shown that The Israeli government cannot be and should not be trusted with nuclear weapons. When a country is given such power like Israel has, I wouldn’t be surprised if Syria, Iran and anyone who stands up to Israel’s military occupation are blown off the map.

And not to mention the poor skills that the Israeli force has shown.

Oh yeah. Hamas eliminated right there. The only thing that is coming of of these attacks are more Hamas supporters, more hatred and way way way more anger.

Oh yeah. UN Schools are very dangerous. They are UN schools after all. God forbid that children ever go to school! What are the Palestinians thinking?

Schools, universities, media centers (God forbid we should ever know what’s going down there), hospitals. This is not Hamas the Israeli government is targeting. It’s the whole God damn population. According to the UN report, one third of the Gaza population is dead. ONE THIRD. That’s one in every three people.

I apologize for my language, but how the fuck can you expect me to sit here and smile when there is a fucking ethic cleansing doing on down there? How the fuck can you expect me to support this so-called “necessary action” when the amount of Palestinians killed in two weeks is not far away from the official number of Iraqis killed during the past eight years? And how the hell am I supposed to believe that Israel is not being held above the law?

And now much of aid (like Red Cross) is being pulled out of Gaza and the bars being being held shut. WHAT IS GOING ON? Can someone please, please explain to me? This is…God…

And if Hamas is really hiding weapons in such buildings, where is the evidence. I want to see photos, I wants to see videos, I.WANT.EVIDENCE. If this turns out to be another “Iraq-has-weapons-of-mass-destruction-oh-wait-they-don’t-anyways”, I will have lost all faith in mankind.

But I’ll let that thought linger with you.

Lets move on shall we?

Hamas are a bunch of no-good pathetic morons that should burn in hell. The fact that they throw missiles on ther border of Israel is stupid, immoral and just plain wrong.

The only issue is that considering the conditions the Palestinians live in, no doubt they do that.

Not only is the Israeli “safety precautions” inhumane but they are in direct violation of several international laws. I promise you this will be your time worth spent.

Article 27: ‘Protected persons are entitled, in all circumstances, to respect for their persons, their honour, their family rights, their religious convictions and practices, and their manners and customs. They shall at all times be humanely treated, and shall be protected especially against all acts of violence or threats thereof and against insults and public curiosity”

Broken.

  • Every day Palestinians are faced with checkpoint systems  which include body searches, humiliation and inconvenience.
  • B’Tselem (The Israeli Information Center for Human Rights in the Occupied Territories ) reports many incidents of violence, at times gross violence against Palestinians that are unnecessary and without justification. Many claims of police brutality remain uninvestigated and have become the norm.
  • The building of the Wall/ ‘Security Barrier’, has created an area between the barrier and the Green Line referred to as the “seam area”. B’Tselem estimates that this section of the barrier alone “will infringe the human rights of more than 210,000 Palestinians who live in 67 towns and villages: 13 communities, containing 11,700 residents, will become enclaves trapped between the barrier and the Green Line; the barrier’s winding route and the additional barrier (the depth barrier) east of the separation barrier will turn 19 other villages, in which 128,500 Palestinians live, into enclaves; 36 villages situated east of the separation barrier or depth barrier, containing 72,200 residents, will be separated from a substantial part of their farmland, which lies west of the barriers.”
  • Only Palestinians are required to apply for a permit in order to remain living within the seam area and separate permits to enter the seam area to carry out activities such as farming. Such permits are subject to renewal. The criteria for obtaining a permit are unclear and allow complete discretion to the Civil Administration to deny the permit and thus eject Palestinians from their homes or refuse them entry to their fields. In June 2004 B’Tselem reported that “Palestinians wanting to obtain a permit face a bureaucratic nightmare”.
  • The Family Unification Law, forbids Israelis married to, or who will marry in the future, residents of the Occupied Territories to live in Israel with their spouses. This law does not apply to spouses who are not residents of the Occupied Territories and is therefore discriminatory.

(Almost all info taken from http://www.jfjfp.org/factsheets/geneva4.htm)

Article 31: ‘No physical or moral coercion shall be exercised against protected persons, in particular to obtain information from them or from third parties.’

Article 32 prohibits the use of ‘any measure of such a character as to cause the physical suffering or extermination of protected persons’, a prohibition that applies not just to murder, torture etc ‘but also to any other measures of brutality whether applied by civilian or military agents’.

Broken.

  • According to a recent report by the Public Committee Against Torture in Israel and other human rights organizations, there is evidence of systematic and routine torture of Palestinian prisoners causing “severe pain or suffering, whether physical or mental”
  • According to the report, violence, painful tying, humiliations and many other forms of ill-treatment, including detention under inhuman conditions, are a matter of course.
  • The ill-treatment of Palestinian detainees by IDF soldiers and other detaining forces is manifested through ill-treatment of relatives of the detainee; violence during arrest and on the way to the detention facility; shackling of detainees with “azikonim” (small handcuffs); inhuman conditions of detention; and other means of ill-treatment, including being suspended with legs up, ‘goal’ (a stone-throwing contest at the detainee), forcing the detainee to run blindfolded and tripping him, stripping (sometimes to complete nakedness), intimidation using a dog, cocking a weapon as if intending a summary execution, and more.
  • According to the same report, and based on official data, Israel’s General Security Service (GSS) agents have interrogated thousands of Palestinians per year during the Second Intifada, and over 200 at any given moment.In July 2002, the GSS related to the press that 90 Palestinians were defined as ‘ticking bombs’ and were tortured (that is, were exposed to ‘physical pressure’). Research by the Public Committee Against Torture in Israel shows that the number tortured is actually much greater.
  • Information obtained by the Public Committee Against Torture in Israel shows that the official sources have admitted to using a large portion of the torture methods, including slapping, ‘bending,’ shaking, sleep deprivation, and prolonged shackling.
  • Israel’s policy of targeting and killing Palestinians believed to have some connection to hostilities, is also a clear violation of this provision.
  •

    Article 33: ‘No protected person may be punished for an offence he or she has not personally committed. Collective penalties and likewise all measures of intimidation or of terrorism are prohibited.’
    Broken.
    • The Family Unification Law (see above), is a from of collective punishment.
    • The sweeping nature of restriction of movement in the form of closure, siege and curfew constitutes a form of collective punishment. Since the outbreak of the second Second Intifada, Israel has imposed a total closure on the occupied territories and has prohibited Palestinian movement between the occupied territories and Israel and between the West Bank and Gaza, unless they have a special permit. Since 2000 Israel has issued no new entry permits.
    • Israel also imposes internal closures on specific towns and villages. Since October 2000, most Palestinian communities in the West Bank have been closed off by staffed checkpoints, concrete blocks, dirt piles or deep trenches. During curfews, residents are completely prohibited from leaving their homes. As B’Tselem has put it: “The sweeping nature of the restrictions imposed by Israel, the specific timing that it employs when deciding to ease or intensify them, and the destructive human consequences turn its policy into a clear form of collective punishment. Such punishment is absolutely prohibited by the Fourth Geneva Convention.’
    • The requirement of all Palestinians who wish to remain living in or to enter the “seam area” to apply for the permits is a form of collective punishment. Residents in this area, as well as those who wish to enter the area, will now be dependent on the benevolence of the defense establishment, even though they are suspected of no wrongdoing. These residents are affected solely because of their poor luck in living or working east of the route where Israel decided to construct the barrier.
    • House demolitions are carried out under the emergency regulations (DER 119) of the British mandate which provide for an authority to demolish a house as a response against persons suspected of taking part in or directly supporting criminal or guerilla activities. Recently, application of DER 119 has become limited to instances in which an attack was launched from a specific house or cases in which an “inhabitant” of the house was suspected of involvement in an offense. The term “inhabitant,” however, has been broadly defined to include persons who do not necessarily reside in said house regularly, and often is applied to family homes in which a suspected offender previously resided. The regular occupants’ knowledge of the offense has been deemed irrelevant by the Israeli authorities. This is clearly a form of collective punishment.

    Article 53 states: ‘Any destruction by the Occupying Power of real or personal property belonging individually or collectively to private persons, or to the State, or to other public authorities, or to social or cooperative organizations, is prohibited, except where such destruction is rendered absolutely necessary by military operations.

    Broken.

    • Over 500 Palestinian homes have been demolished in the last 3 years. While the convention recognises a wide scope of discretion to the military commander, the concept of military necessity is not a “carte blanche” to the military. There are criteria for assessing military necessity’ (see below) and if the demolition fails to fulfill one of these criteria, it is illegal. It is impossible to sustain the view that the large number of demolitions have complied with these criteria.
    • According to a recent Human Rights Watch report, the IDF has rendered 16 000 people homeless over the past four years, regardless of whether their homes posed a genuine military threat.
    • The uprooting of tens of thousands of olive and orange trees and the confiscation of large amounts of land to build the Wall/ ‘security barrier’ are in direct violation of this provision.
    • A recent article in Ha’aretz describes how the military authorities have done nothing to prevent settlers from stealing Palestinian olive harvest

    13

    And there are more, but I’m going to fast forward to present. Israel and US just signed a contract to stop Hamas getting hands on “dirty” weapons.

    Ok, fair enough, but seriously. There is a massacre going on down there and all you can talk about is DIRTY WEAPONS? So I guess this the strong allegation that Israel is using banned weapons and bombs is just bulls*** right? You have got to be kidding me.

    According to the Guardian ;

    The Israeli military are accused of:

    • Using powerful shells in civilian areas which the army knew would cause large numbers of innocent casualties;

    • Using banned weapons such as phosphorus bombs;

    • Holding Palestinian families as human shields;

    • Attacking medical facilities, including the killing of 12 ambulance men in marked vehicles;

    • Killing large numbers of police who had no military role.

    Israeli military actions prompted an unusual public rebuke from the International Red Cross after the army moved a Palestinian family into a building and shelled it, killing 30. The surviving children clung to the bodies of their dead mothers for four days while the army blocked rescuers from reaching the wounded.

    And people wonder why terrorists are born.

    Oh my favorite part ofcourse ;

    Two leading Israeli human rights organisations have separately written to the country’s attorney general demanding he investigate the allegations.

    But critics remain sceptical that any such inquiry will take place, given that Israel has previously blocked similar attempts with the backing of the US.

    Thank God you can’t hear me. I just screamed by the way.

    2

    This is getting out of hand. There is a point when self-defense turns into straight up murder. This is murder. Period.

     I have always doubted and questioned the “birth” of the state of Israel and the breaches of the laws while creating the state of Israel (that should come to you some other time, in some other post), I have never been furious with it.

    But this? I’m sorry, but the Israeli government just turned into one fucking Marvel villain in my eyes.

    Last night, before going to sleep, I made the horrid mistake at looking at some pictures my friend has sent to me. Here are some ;

    Maybe you knew this stuff.

    Maybe you didn’t.

    How can we, as humans, sit by and let the Israeli and the American government play their own game resulting in children clinging on to their dead parents, and parents clinging on to their dead children. No one is above the law, and no one has the right to disregard human rights and lives. That goes for poor and rich countries. No country has the right to do what Israel and the US have been doing for years in Gaza.

    All you need to know is that this came from the heart.

    I hope you could feel that. I hope you could feel my heart beat, and I hope you could taste my tears. I hope that you learnt something, I hope that you started thinking and I hope I’ve brought some thoughts into you. I hope that you also do what it is in your power alert people. I hope you know know that a solid support for the Israeli action is both inhumane, grotesque and immoral.

    If any of this has occurred, the intention of this blog has succeeded.

    Just one more thing;

    3

    Think about it.

    This is the last full stop.

    Until next time,

    When bloggers get n-a-s-t-y

    A good friend was talking to me regarding the issue with Gaza and Israel. He said to me, “I’ve been glued to the TV”. And personally, so have I. Being a political person, I’ve been watching TV more than what is considered healthy. And when I’m not glued to a TV screen, I’m glued to the PC screen. I’ve been interested in what opinions people hold in this whole Gaza/Israel issue. And what better place to do so than WordPress itself?

    Type “israel” or “palestine” in the search box and you’ll find countless of bloggers who express their opinions about this issue. I’ve been particularly interested in the pro-Israeli opinions and most of the time, it’s just been a free discussion with the bombardment of facts from both sides.  People go a bit sour at times, but that’s natural and human. Most of the time, there is no “conclusion” nor a “fullstop”, but what I assume, you at least hear the different veiw points.

    But sometimes, bloggers get nasty. Real nasty.

    I was browsing through the blogs and stumbled across a blog by complete accident. The blogger, Anna Lyttiger, had posted an article about the aftermath of the, what seemed, a rightful Israeli invasion. The after affect were the attacks on Western Israelis and synagogues. She seemed bitter, and no doubt, with reason. My comment on the post was as following ;

    Danes, Americans and pretty much the rest of the world responded in such a way towards Muslims after 9/11.

    Mosques were burnt, girls had their headscarves pulled off, people were beaten, homes were vandalized, racism against Muslims escalated around the world, and not to mention… we blew up two countries in the progress. Both Muslim by the way.

    When one, minor part of a big society take an action upon another society, you’re bound to find bitterness and anger. It is only realistic. Im not justifying the violence, but I can see why it is there. As said, it was there when 9/11 happened, and please don’t try to deny it. Im both a witness and a victim of the crimes.

    It would help if you would see the reason why there is bitterness from the Palestinians and Muslims in general. Im writing a blog post on the issue of Gaza/Israel. It will be up in a few days time, and it might, well, broaden your view and expand your understanding capability on this issue.

    The responses I got made me sick to my stomach.

    Anna Lyttiger, posted, very nicely,

    Mamashaal: Don’t give me bullshit like “Im not justifying the violence, but…”

    Islam is the most violent and satanic movement worldwide today, they have nothing to do in the west. And they are experts in self-victimization. Every time one of their mullah’s or muftis open their maw, black smokes of lies come out of it.

    You are probably a very nice person, but your naivitë and ignorance is astounding.

    Somewhere deep inside, I wasn’t really surprised. I had read her previous blogs and she didn’t seem like the person who would join Amnesty International, if you know what I mean.

    Being a Muslim, I’m used to getting trashed. After 9/11, things haven’t been easy, and I’ve gotten used to the nasty remarks, the look that I get when holding a black Eastpack bag, the “FUCK MUSLIMS, GO HOME” comments graffitied on the trains and of course the, “Excuse me Miss, could you please step aside here” comment in airports. It’s become a part of life, and my reactions to anti-Muslims aren’t as vigorous as they used to be.

    But I have my limits and sometimes, people tend to cross them. And then my blood boils.

    I was staring at that Anna’s comment for maybe a few minutes, always going back to my  previous one to see if I had come forth as arrogant or angry.  Maybe I had said something like, “DEATH TO DANES”.

    Nope.

    Maybe I had said, “FUCK JEWS, THEY SHOULD DIE”

    Nope.

    Or maybe I had written, “ALLAH IS MOST GREAT AND YOU ARE BLIND NOT TO OBEY HIM. YOU WILL BE NEXT, I WILL COME AFTER YOU”.

    Definitely nope.

    All I had done was showed her the other side. Tried to explain that after 9/11 Muslims got the same reaction; Mosques were burnt, girls had their headscarves pulled off, people were beaten, homes were vandalized, racism against Muslims escalated around the world, and not to mention we blew up two Muslim countries in the progress. I wrote that if a part of a society takes an action upon another, you are bound to find bitterness.

    But as seen, people don’t take 2 sides very easily.

    Not enough with that, another blogger, named Iwan Bonnen (not sure if that’s a man or woman) joined the discussion, and really, I mean, really, stepped over my toes. His/Her response:

    1.
    There is no such thing as “the palestinean people” or “the palestineans”. Those who live in Gaza are plain and simple arabs, who moved there and settled there without reason, just like arabs in general move to places where they havent got anything to do (Denmark?) and try to spread their sick thoughts. The concept “the palestinean people” was invented as a lie by the Gaza citizens that they could spread in European medias, making Europe think, that they had some sort of historical right to the area.

    2.
    Gaza was firering missiles against Israel, – the Country that provides them with electricity and fresh drinking water. The truth is, that Israel takes good care of Gaza. Gaza is far better of being “occupied” by Israel than they would be if they were given their own country or given to Egypt. Israel is not opressing Gaza, Israel is taking good care of Gaza. Why would you want to hurt the people who take good care of you? You would have to be sick or a muslim (but that’s the same) to do something like that.

    3.

    The civilians killed by Israel was not confirmed, it was just numbers that Hamas gave to western journalists that had never been there and confimed for themselves. Hamas knows that the european medias would accept the numbers as the truth and print them in the papers to provoke sanctions against Israel by Europe. Hamas is lying with purpose. Furtheron Israel cannot avoid to hit civilians, because Hamas deliberately places their arms in residential areas close to civilians, hoping Israel will kill some of their own civilians, when they destroy the missiles, so they can use it as propaganda. Hamas are using Gaza civilians as human shields, hoping some of them will die to get the UN to sanction Israel. A muslim is just another word for a liar, and many europeans belive them, that is the worst part.

    At this point, I think I screamed at my PC screen.

    The first thing that really got to me was the lack of historical knowledge that Anna and especially Mr./Ms. Bonnen suffered from. Any Palestinian or anyone who’s read history, would laugh at the first point. I’ll post up a link to the blog so you can have the benefit of reading my full reply. Not only is Iwan making mistakes, she/he’s also degrading and demeaning the Arabic population in Denmark.

    Also, anyone who believe that Israel is taking care of Gaza as such lives either in a cave or has no ability to separate fact from fiction. I have met many Israelis who are critical of Gaza and Hamas, yet acknowledge the fact that the people in Gaza are suppressed when it comes to basic human rights.

    The third comment really ensured me that Iwan is either in denial or well…. in denial. That’s as fucked up (mind my language) as the people going, “OH NO, THE HOLOCAUST WAS JUST A STAGE UP, IT DIDN’T REALLY HAPPEN”.

    Finally, Iwan took the honor of calling Muslims for liars and sick, while Anna took the liberty of having freedom of speech and using it trash an entire religion of 1.5 billion followers (it’s a beautiful thing, really).

    I am sick and tired of pathetic morons using their freedom of speech, spreading ignorance and hatred. I’m so tired of people speaking on issues they think they know all about, but in reality, know not squat about it. These people remind me of the KKK who believed they were the superior race and found it their right to target the black population. Or the Nazis for spreading hate towards the Jews. Anna and Iwan follow in such footsteps.

    As a blogger you have the freedom of expressing yourself, and it’s a beautiful thing. However, just because you’re on the web, doesn’t mean that you can post hateful comments on other cultures, religions and races. It is unacceptable and should not be shown tolerance to. There is a difference in being critical and being an ignorant hater.

    Despite that you may have freedom of speech, spreading comments like “All Jews are greedy/ All Muslims are terrorists/ All Blacks are criminal” is considered wrong and is despised by the world community today.

    What’s so astonishing about such people is their inability to view two sides. My talented history teacher said to me, “There are two sides of a coin”. Someone ought to book a few history sessions with my history teacher!

    Whether you are a religious fanatic or a non-religious fanatic, you are the same towards me and I have the same opinion about you. Someone ought to give you a book and send you to school. It is rather depressing though. Such people are found in every culture, every society, every religion and every country.

    I have had numerous and almost countless of racist incidents. Either verbal or physical. Yet, I don’t comb over an entire people, because I know generalizing and saying that all Western folks are racist is not only wrong but does more damage than help.

    Now, you may say that I’m getting nasty. Maybe so, however, I have quite a few regular readers. I share my experiences, whether good or bad, and give them the chance to reflect upon it.

    Anna Lyttiger’s blog is an experience I am not fond of, but actually a little happy for. She and the folks like her are the reason why I get up every morning thinking, “I’m going to show them that they are wrong”. Much of the content of her blog is what is wrong with the world. But for me, it seems a motivation to make a difference. The thought of being successful and laughing at their faces is just ten times sweeter. You feel me?

    Being a Pakistani Muslim is not easy however, I have learnt that I can take critique however I cannot and will not, under any circumstance take vicious, hateful and demeaning comments like those of Iwan and Anna. You should learn that too.

    The link to the article that I responded to can be found (if Anna has accepted the post and let it go beyond moderation) : www.annalyttiger.wordpress.com (Joderne forfolges is the name of article). Some may say that I shouldn’t have uploaded a link as it can be “promoting” it. Yet, I will leave you to decide.

    I doubt  my readers will find her blog satisfying.

    Until next time,

    Mamashaal (( desi diva ))
